Join fellow futurists for livestreaming this first annual Emerging Futurists Symposium, hosted by the University of Hawaii - Manoa and the Hawaii Research Center for Futures Studies. Livestreaming is provided courtesy of the APF and our excellent emerging professional members. Several will be presenting.

According to the Emerging Futurists Symposium site:

Futures Studies has few, if any, gatherings tailored for graduate students. We envision this symposium as an opportunity for nascent futurists to share their work, discuss issues in the field, and network with other up and coming futurists.

What attributes will future(s) futurists need as the 21st century progresses? What emerging issues will shape the future(s)? What are the futures of Futures? Will the dawn of big data make futurists’ job easier or will they go the way of the dodo? Can predictive analytics find a place within scenario modeling across various time horizons (30, 50, 100+ years)? Will emerging futurists need to emphasize quantitative methods more than qualitative ones as more accurate and precise data sets become available?

You will hear four panels featuring presentations on:
1. Emerging issues
2. International futures
3. Social movements and social media in the futures, and
4. Aesthetic futures.
Opening Remarks by Debbie Halbert begin on November 30th, 2012 at 2:00 pm EST (19:00 GMT) and the symposium wraps up at 10:00 pm EST (03:00 GMT; December 01, 2012)
