Join APF Board Chair Cindy Frewen and other APF committee chairs and leaders to discuss both the Future of Foresight Project and the next APF Strategic Plan for 2014-2016.

Last year, we held a lively conversation on the future of foresight, which resulted in an working paper with essays by three highly regarded members, Riel Miller, Jennifer Jarratt, and Peter Bishop. The draft of that paper will be linked here shortly.

We want your feedback on those essays and will be seeking additional short submissions in order to broaden the ideas and representation. Plus the charge for the project was: the future of strategic foresight and APF's role in it. Cindy has outlined initial thoughts. Where to we want to lead the practice of foresight?

Furthermore, the first APF strategic plan has run it's cycle, with most objectives accomplished. It's time for a new phase to begin. Maree Conway led a strategic planning process fall of 2010 and we have asked her to perform that role again this fall. Then the Board will hold a three-day retreat in Q1 2014 to create a final draft, which will undergo membership review, to complete the APF Strategic Plan for 2014 - 2016.

There really is no substitute for face-to-face conversations. Your colleagues views may change your ideas and then your thoughts may influence others. In particular, we can further cultivate the APF's role as a leader and/or as a vetting ground, the place where important conversations about the practice of strategic foresight occur.

Join us Saturday for an open conversation in Chicago. We will update you in advance. Let the review and conversation continue from virtual to IRL.

Location: 720 South Bar & Grill, access from the Lobby of the Chicago Hilton, 720 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago Illinois.

Registration: $10 for lunch. Sandwiches, soup/salad. Reserve your spot and come with ideas and open minds!
