Get together with fellow futurists in Oxford, England for an afternoon session on VERGE!

Invitation from Andrew Curry, along with co-host Wendy Schulz:

We have an unexpected and very welcome opportunity to hear Richard Lum, one of the creators of the VERGE method, also known as the Ethnographic Futures Framework, present it in Oxford on the afternoon of 4th October. Wendy Schultz has generously arranged to host the event at Wolfson College.

For people who aren't aware of VERGE, it is one of the unsung futures techniques, and one which has a wide range of applications. (I've used a lot in my futures practice). Wendy once described it as "the little black dress of futures methods". More formally, Richard describes it like this:

"It is a way to frame and explore changes in the world. Originally intended as an alternative taxonomy for environmental scanning, Verge has evolved through use into a general practice opportunity employed by foresight professionals at virtually every stage of futures research."

The presentation will explore the theory of verge, and its six domains, and work through a number of applications. The intention is that at least part of the worshop will be hands on. This s, I believe, the first time that one of the cretors of Verge has presented the model in the UK.

The details are as follows:

The meeting will start at 1.30 and run through to 4pm. If you arrive by 12.45 you are invited to join Wendy and Richard for a (cash) lunch in the College canteen.

There is some parking available at Wolfson by prior arrangement with Wendy.

There are about 30 places available - we will try to accommodate guests if we don't fill those places from within the APF.

The event will be livestreamed and recorded. All rights will be retained by the APF. Use by permission:

Wolfson College, is at Linton Rd, Oxford OX2 6UD, United Kingdom.
